Mission
The Safety & Fire Protection Group (SFPG) provides proactive safety and fire protection expertise to the industry, API committees and member companies. The SFPG mission is to promote safe, healthful, efficient and environmentally sound practices in the petroleum industry, and to monitor and respond to governmental actions. The foundation of these activities is to:
- Develop and maintain risk-based technical API standards and recommended practices based on sound science
- Influence agency policy outcomes on the most critical regulatory risks and opportunities
- Communicate and share information related to petroleum industry safety and fire protection
- Share benchmarking/ performance data to drive continuous improvement
